On the Oregon trail

Normally I stay away from American politics, but as this is a special occasion…

Congratulations to the electorate of the State of Oregon, who by voting in a state ballot for Measure 78 have approved an amendment to their state constitution. Inter alia, this amendment corrects the spelling of “seperate” to “separate” and of “independant” to “independent”. As somebody who finds minor illiteracies in official documents dreadfully embarrassing, I salute you.

Now, I don’t suppose you could do something about that stray comma in Sec. 17 that separates “Legislative Branch” from the defining phrase “of a free, and independent State”, could you? (I’ll not clype on you to the ghost of H. W. Fowler right away. I suppose it’s possible that today you all have other things on your minds.)
