Happy campus

A friend at Strathclyde calls my attention to the current state of their James Weir Building, which has been redded up in advance of an open day:

IMAG0076Note those missing windows to the left of the banner, and a few others that might look a touch on the grimy side, like the rest of the façade. That’s because they haven’t been replaced yet in the refit that has been going on for the last eighteen months, since the building was gutted by a fire. So: still not much use as an engineering school, but I’m sure you’ll agree that it does make a lovely noticeboard.

A banner saying how wonderful everything is, suspended in front of a burnt-out building — can you think of a better image for the modern British university?
